Good news: managed to make fresh buns this morning. Mmmmm, fresh bread with bu------

Where IS the butter?

I put some out last night to soften in the cupboard, because Fred has made off with whole sticks of butter.

So....oh. Wait. Why are those bowls in the sink? I just washed those yesterday.

I put them in the cupboard.

And shut it tightly.

Now I have an open cupboard, spilled bowls, and.....no butter.

He opened the bloody cupboard.

"FRED, goddamit."

Well he certainly has perseverance when he wants something. So the bowls spilled out of the cupboard and into the sink without breaking or was he responsible enough to carefully put them there?

They were plastic. With cats like Fred and Jezzie and Molly and Zillie.....

Are you sure he hasn't managed to develop opposable thumbs, and then hide them (so they just appear like that normal claw that looks like it could become a thumb)?

You have a smart cat.
I've seen our cats pull open cupboard doors, but it was always the floor-level cupboards. Upper-level cupboards would be harder.

If he put the bowls in the sink, he is the most responsible cat I've ever heard of.

Cats seem to have a lot in common with toddlers.

When my niece was getting-into-cupboards age, her daddy installed safety latches on all the cabinets. Maybe those, or something like sliding locks on the handles/knobs would foil Fred.

(Unless he is hiding opposable thumbs.)

I am now picturing Fred as Snooch from TwoLumps.
