drac emu
I have created a monster.

Shadow just leaped onto the bed with a bouncy ball in his mouth, doing that raspy meow of his.

I had to pitch a few balls before I even got out of bed, lest he stomp all over me, which he does anyway.

It's like he's making up for lost time. And apparently he's taught himself how to play fetch.

It's hilarious. I have to get it on video. He will play by himself if I just get the ball rolling, so to speak.

And he's a big brawny kitty now. When he stomps all over you, you feel it.

He still gets over-stimulated, but he also calms down.

He's a grumpy old man. I think he's still warming to the idea he can get scritches around the clock.

And pets so do love their scritches.

It's a tossup with him between bouncy balls and scritches.

Nothing better than a cat who learns how to play as an adult. I've had a few rescues that were like that, and you can almost see the lightbulb go off when it clicks. So glad y'all have one another.

Now go throw that ball. LOL

Yeah, he's relaxing a bit more when I pet him, although it might be because I'm playing with him more, too.

Awww, that's so sweet.

Gypsy used to do that with me with one of those red sparkly pompoms, but hasn't since I got Jorj.

That's so cool. I once had a rescue dog - a cocker spaniel that had been chained to a doghouse for years - that never did learn how to fetch, despite all my attempts to teach him. Kind of sad, that, but he did enjoy being a house dog for his final years.

My Sam plays fetch. We call it "Sammy-ball."

Indeed, you have no idea what you are in for. :D

I love cats that play fetch. Our Milo loves to chase a crumpled ball of paper but has not quite figured out that he needs to bring it *back*. Instead, he "catches" it, then looks at me and backs away so that I'll walk over to him and throw it again. Which of course I do. Repeat ad infinitum, back and forth across the living room until one of us tires out.

Who, me? Just because I rearranged my sewing/work table to give him his own crocheted rug to sleep on by the window? Or apologize and refresh the water bowl if they just sit and stare at it for a minute because it has a crumb? Or because I refrain from using my own patio sometimes because the ferals are there and I don't want to disturb them?

Why no, not at all. ~guilty look~

Our Scooter seems to think the balls are his babies. He'll adopt one and carry it around in his mouth, yowling at the top of his lungs, until I take the damn thing away.

Peabody, on the other hand, will fetch until the cows come home, and he'll grab my pant leg and pull if I haven't realized his ball is there and I have to throw it.

I've never been able to figure out why some cats fetch and some don't. My college cat Fido (named for reasons which shall be made clear in a moment) fetched Thompson seedless grapes and brought them back until they went splat, at which point he left them where they were, which made cleaning day fun. He also fetched green olives and would eat them, but never the pimento. My cat Scrap would fetch single peanuts in the shell, but only until she became a grownup girl and too dignified for such things.

God, that's hilarious.

My dear Abbie used to have this little plastic measuring thing she'd skid around like a hockey puck. I'd tied the end off because the plastic tab had fallen off and she used that as a handle-----to bring to me and drop expectantly at my feet.
