Another one
This time, the female soldier survived---her own husband. Her husband kidnapped her, raped and stabbed her, and then she managed to persuade him to go back and turn himself in. That's a courageous woman.

Meanwhile, three have been or will be tried for the murders of their wives. One wife died from drinking anti-freeze; the defense is trying to say she killed herself. For months. Leaving a quarter of a million to her hubbie. Another was Brit Neil Entwistle, the guy who murdered his wife and baby daughter.

Another link on that site asks, "Was NC soldier murdered?" I dunno-----did she kill herself and set herself on fire? Or what?

This would be the Establishment supporting the troops, by protecting their rights to only be terrorised by domestic insurgents.:(

Well, the defense has to say something. And after murder I don't suppose you think it matters much if you perjure yourself as well.

Yeah, that's what always startles me: Um, dude, he killed somebody. YOu think he's going to be squeamish about a little ole white lie that'll get him out of jail and win him a ton o money? Really?

Srsly. "OMG there's no way he could be lying under oath!" Right, jackass. Because that makes sense.

I have a friend whose husband, when he got from Iraq, cheated on her. When she confronted him about it, he strangled her, and left her for dead on their kitchen floor with their 3 kids screaming. They thought they'd just watched their father kill their mother. Her oldest, her 7 or 8 year old daughter, managed to call 911.

She lived, but I can't imagine the trauma. And the trauma to the kids to have seen that.

Good God...I'm glad she's okay, but...that's horrible.

IS she okay?

Yeah, it was awful. I saw some of the pictures, and she was so bruised.

She left him, like went to a lawyer as soon as she was out of the ER. She's extremely strong--not the typical vulnerable person these guys usually target. And she has a background in child psych/therapy, so she's probably been better at helping her kids through it than most of us would.

I haven't talked to her in a while, though, so I haven't had an update.

I hope she's okay. People should not have to suffer through that.

Oh, you know those crazy soldier wimmins...always killing themselves and then dumping their own bodies in shallow graves, or setting themselves on fire after the fact. It's kind of like committing suicide by shooting themselves in the back of the head 23 times, stopping twice to reload, while handcuffed. Y'know, something those women manage with their evil vagina powers.

What frightens me is that I imagine there are plenty of people who would believe that nonsense I just typed.

What - you think they can't do all that? You'd be absolutely amazed what you could do if you had a vagina, too!

It's amazing how all the people in society that have almost no power due to social stigma or discrimination actually control everything!

It's almost as if being female and military should bring with it some sort of hazard pay.

I read about the El Paso case this morning, and was horrified. At least she got out alive.

In addition, being female in the patriarchy we all ought to get reparations. I want the money my mother and grandmother didn't get paid due to making less than their male coworkers, and the going rate for childcare for all my foremothers back to the fucking American Revolution--with appropriate interest, as if it's been sitting in a savings account all this time. Actually, I and my mother, sister, aunt and female cousins should get to split this money between us.

Well, that's one way for every woman in America to get rich. Reparations for every nasty, evil male atrocity done to us personally and to our female ancestors, and it's a debt with no end in sight. Every woman will be living on easy street! LOL Of course, collecting it will be like child support, it ain't ever going to happen.

How many fucking times can the stupid journalist use the adverb 'allegedly' in a single article, anyway? Allegedly this and allegedly that. Prejudice, much?

Well, yes, they do have to avoid saying definitively that he did it when he's not been convicted. But they overdo it, to an unsettling degree, whenever the victim is a woman.

What [info]flewllyn said - I suspect it's about 50-50 misogyny and fear-of-lawsuits. On my bleaker days I think the ratio is more like 60-40, or 70-30...

80/20 sounds about right. "The alleged victim was found in an alley with a broken head and a dismembered body. The alleged assailant protests that she did it to herself to spite him."

Oy. And while we're on the subject, can I just say how completely I loathe, despise and abominate the phrase "alleged victim"? I mean, it suggests that the victim isn't reeeeeally a victim; in fact, the soi-disant victim probably set it up so the poor assailant would get in trouble. In fact, they're the real victim here!
