And it makes my geeky hippie heart flutter too. My secret desire (which I will now post on the Internet) is to move up to the mountains, buy Keith's family's land, rebuild the old farmhouse into a super-green house with solar and wind power, greywater reclamation, etc., and run a small organic vegetable and dairy farm (possibly with goats instead of cows, as inspired by Goat Lady Dairy).

This is what I would do if I won huge sums of money and never had to work again.

I swear, I'm going to buy a lottery ticket, because that's my fantasy, too. That sounds wonderful.

My memory's like a sieve. I totally forgot so I was just all geeked out this morning and delighted. It's so cool---there's so many good articles and ads and stuff.

my wife and i are working towards a farm with mini-cattle, chickens, bunnies, bees, and at least one really big horse. i want falcons and hawks, too. i'm not sure how mini it'll end up being...

This is so what I hope to do myself. Veggies, goats, maybe some chickens.

So many people around here have goats. You even see the goats in town sometimes. At least the little ones. One of the "Goat ladies" carried one into the feed store to show to some friends some weeks ago. Such a little, tiny, sweetie-girl! She did warn us that the little boys grow up to be real monsters.

My sister had a pet miniture goat when she was litle, with a collar and a leash and everything. They are actually quite smart animals (unlike sheep). It ran loose around the property, mostly hanging out with the horses, but it knew when to expect the schoolbus, and was always waiting right by the road for us. It was allowed in the house and sometimes slept on her bed with her.

Didn't know it was still being published. My mom subscribed to it in the mid 70's. I remember reading it avidly. It's where I first read about Japanese foods- there was a couple who put out a series of books about how to make your own tofu, miso, etc... back then. I've forgotten their names but the husband was American and the wife was Japanese by birth. The articles and the books had line drawing illustations.

Found the authors- William Shurtleff & Akiko Aoyagi I remembered the Miso one was called "Book of Miso" and the library here has a second edition copy. (Hmm I thought they aere married, but maybe not...)
