Fuck the IRS
I made less than two grand last year. My refund is less than four hundred bucks. I filed online. When I checked, they said I should have my refund electronically deposited by today. It wasn't. I called. They said they 'were working on it.' How much 'work' does it fucking need? No deductions, no interest, nothing. I had zippo. What the fuck are they doing, chiseling it on stone tablets in ancient Babylonion cuneiform?!

So no tax refund until they're damned good and ready.

And if I have to hear "The Waltz of the Goddamned Snowflakes" one more fucking time, I'm going to throw stuff and that scares the cats.

I suspected something of the sort. I used to have to pay estimated tax quarterly -- $Deity forbid you get your money to them a day late, you start paying interest and penalties. Getting your refund back, well, that'll happen any day Real Soon Now.

I mean, how do you have to continue to work on something so small? It's not like it's GWB's dick.

Are you entitled to a stimulus cheque?

I feel ya. I'd rather fight my way out of a dark alley full of who knows what with an arm tied behind my back than do taxes. At least hitting things and running is straightforwards.

Taxes feel like they are a hundred years of confusion engineered into paperwork - the most advanced and official scam by which we all get our government.

The problem is, I don't get any statement from the VA, so that income doesn't exist, but the IRS says it does.

If you had your filing fees deducted from your refund, you will get a paper check ... mine isn't due to be mailed until June 27, despite all the hype about how if you had direct deposit for your refund, the bribe stimulus check would be deposited 5/9.

Yeah.

I got direct deposit.

Now comes the fun part: pay the phone bill or the electric bill? Which one?

Is it possible to arrange or simply make a partial payment to both, so you're still current albeit behind? I had to do this when we were up against it years ago.

I'll be cleaned out by either one. The electric bill is huge.

I e-filed back in January, for something like $40 in Earned Income Tax Credit. The social security disability isn't taxable.

It is, however - and supposedly - a qualifier for that "rebate". Last I'd heard, for my SSN, it was supposed to be in the bank account May 9th. Now they're saying "will be deposited no later than May 16th". I'll believe it when it's there. (And Annie-cat needs about $200 of dental work, so I really do need it, y'know?)

And if you OWE money like we did with the IRS? They cash the check the day they get it.

We get a small refund from the state and haven't seen that yet either.

Yeah, the state takes even longer. I'm looking at three more weeks' wait.

Fuckers.

I get paper checks, and mine have always turned up fast, with MO being *very* fast -- but I do it in March.

:::nods sadly::: I do Mom's taxes, since I activated the POA and took over her finances. Well, that's an exaggeration. I save all her paperwork and take it over to H&R Block, with an offering of chocolate and caffeine for the nice lady who's done Mom's taxes for five years now. I got a letter from the IRS today, IMPORTANT! SAVE FOR YOUR RECORDS! saying that Mom was supposed to get $600 but might get only $300 but anyway, sooner or later she'll get a check.

IOW, when government and gov't agencies are run by people who don't believe gov't works, guess what? It won't.

yup... you and me, we get no extra money from the W... cuz, having made so little money, they KNOW we are that much less likely to spend it on something "fabulous"

bastards.
