Dear VA:
Is it too fuckin' much to ask that you remember one single goddamned thing I tell you, like the fact that I need a week's lead time to get a van ride with the DAV? Huh?

God, they don't even bother trying. Three years now, and it's like I hvae to fuckin' repeat every goddamned thing every time. I'm so sick of this.

The medication is not working well any longer, either. Here comes another fight with the nurse.

I ask that exact question, silently, just about every day at work.

Considering that these people are supposed to make me better...not listening has medical implications.

True. Too often, the people you rely on the most to help you are the ones that pay the least attention.

When I was in the hospital for my hysterectomy, I handed them a page of instructions on what drugs I shouldn't have and what foods I couldn't eat, with an emphasis on *no MSG.* What's the first thing they bring me to eat, after I've been made to fast for 18 hours, given powerful laxatives, operated on and pumped full of drugs? Broth WITH MSG IN. Fuckers.

When you multiply regular government bureaucratic stupidity by healthcare industry stupidity...yeah.

*stabs the VA for you*

Aieee.

I'm hoping I've got transportation down to Bremerton for my Section 8 annual interview nonsense next month. My friend Gordon said he'd come over and drive me, and I hope he can - it's about an hour driving each way, and on a good day I can do that, but I can't count on June 12th being a good day, y'know?

*sigh* F$cking bureaucracies. And mine's minor compared to yours.

I keep having this vision of myself enjoying periods of almost normality before yet another anti depressant fails and I start falling, yet again. And I don't know if I can live like that forever.

I have a package for you, too.

anti-depressant failure

I'm using a new icon.
Our extensive (seven year) experiences with anti-depressant drugs has led to some conclusions:
1. the efficacy of psydrugs does fluctuate according to outside influences and other medical conditions - If they have worked in the past, they probably will in the future, so don't necessarily throw them out. You may develop a tolerance to some drugs and need more but my wife's experience is that you can reduce the dose and the tolerance - this is most likely to happen with benzos
2. Changing psydrugs is a long drawn-out process and you generally have to wean off one while building up another. If your discomfort happens when you've just stopped taking a drug or shifted over - you probably didn't taper long enough.
3. Often a combination of two or more drugs works best - My wife is currently on low doses of Sertraline, Mirtazapine, and Xanax; which sounds like an awful mix, but these are all cheap, the doses are so low as to be relatively non-addictive and they have pretty much cured her botched medical procedure caused depression, anxiety, and panic attacks.
The cure has taken a very long time, mostly because of the same problems you have had - uncaring and incompetent psydocs but it has happened!
