Rule Number Four: Don't be Columbus
Ah, another rule for the blog:
Don't be Columbus.
Columbus is always described as the discoverer of the New World. However, that world was inhabited. Who gets to define the existence of that world? I'd say the people who lived there do.
Don't tell me you know about feminism when you obviously don't. I've been here a lot longer than you have.
Rule number five: if you take everything off the dessert cart of life, don't expect other people not to notice. Expecting them either not to complain or to meet some stupid standard of civility is raw privilege and arrogance.
Thanks, your helpful blog maintainer.
